The objective of the customized Master of Science (MS) degree and/or Certificate program is to provide leaders and high potential individuals with competency-based masters level coursework that prepares participants to more effectively lead organizations in the evolving landscape of public health and its expanding scope of practice.

  • Foundations in Design: Organizational Behavior & Change (CGS & CAGS - choice)

  • Managing & Leading Public Health Organizations: Part 1 - Elements of Non-Profit Organizations (CGS & CAGS)

  • Collaboration in Complex Systems (CGS & CAGS - choice)

  • Managing & Leading Public Health Organizations: Part 2 - Financial Planning & Complex Budgets in Public Health (CGS & CAGS)

  • Public Policy and Law (CGS & CAGS) 

  • Cultural Diversity in Population & Partners

  • Manager's Use of Data: Evidence-Based Practice to Inform Decision Making

  • Strategic & Professional Communication Skills for Successful Leaders

  • Leader as Process Designer & Facilitator

  • One elective (see below)

 

 

Elective Courses

Students have a choice between one of the following:

  1. Technology as a Tool for Innovation & Maximizing Capacity

  2. Consulting Skills for Leaders

  3. Leveraging Relationships to Advance Your Mission

  4. Coaching Skills

  5. Appreciative Inquiry

Master of Science:

Completion of all 36 credits listed above

 

Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies:

Eligible only to students with a master's degree

Completion of all 12 credits marked with CAGS listed above, including one of the two "choice" courses

 

Certificate of Graduate Studies:

Eligible only to students with a bachelor's degree

Completion of all credits (18) marked with CGS listed above, and the choice of any remaining MS PHMA course

 

Capstone Course

In the final semester, students take a Capstone Course, which integrates the themes and concepts they have worked on throughout the program. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Program Dates

 

All classes in the PHMA curriculum are held Friday and Saturday from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM. Classes will be held virtually until further notice.
